Parents are responsible for:
- Notifying school personnel about their child’s absence from school before or on the day of the absence.
- Notifying the school of any change of address, phone numbers, emails and emergency contact numbers.
- Marking school calendar trips and vacations to support attendance on school days.
Students are responsible for:
- Attending classes daily and on time unless circumstances beyond their control occur.
- Requesting make-up work from their teachers after their absence is being approved.
- Handing in make-up work within 24 or 48 hours of the student’s return to school as per teacher’s notification.
Excused Absences:
- An illness of the student or a medical or dental appointment (requires medical certificate).
- Participation in a sports tournament/ event (requires certificate by the organizing authority).
- An accident reported by the parents.
- A death in the student’s immediate family.
- Pre-planned absence for a personal reason that is acceptable to the principal / school head. A parent must make the request in writing to the principal / school head prior to the date of the absence.
Yearly Attendance Policy:
- An absence of 6 consecutive/ separate days will result in the 1st warning.
- An absence of 10 consecutive/ separate days will result in the 2nd warning.
- An absence of 15 consecutive/ separate days will result in the 3rd warning.
- Any further offenses will result in expulsion.
Tardiness :
A student is tardy when he/ she arrives after the school day starting hour, which is 8:00 am. Students will not be allowed to attend the first lesson if they show up after 8.10 a.m.
Repetition of tardiness will result in a warning. If the offence is repeated (3 times), the parents will be contacted, and the students will be sent home.
